On May 6, 2020, the U.S. Department of Education posted on its website the final rule related to Title IX and sexual harassment, the first comprehensive set of regulations issued under Title IX since 1975.  As expected, the final rule addresses many of the topics previewed in the Department’s November 29, 2018 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM), including a requirement that institutions conduct live hearings with direct cross examination and provide advisors to conduct cross examination.  However, there are many instances where the Final Rule deviates from or clarifies topics in the NPRM. The regulations have a August 14, 2020 implementation date.

This 2-hour webinar will complement the NACUA Briefing on the final rule held on May 8, 2020. The webinar presenters will assume that you attended the May 8, 2020 briefing or listened to the complimentary recording of it prior to joining this webinar. Though the webinar will reference the major features of the final rule, its direction will be driven in substantial measure by practical content to guide institutions as they endeavor to implement the regulations.

This webinar will be of interest to college and university counsel who handle sexual misconduct matters, Title IX coordinators, student affairs professionals, human resources professionals, and other campus administrators responsible for student and employee conduct matters.
