Eileen K. Jennings - 2009
Eileen Jennings moved to Michigan in 1980 to become Associate University Counsel at Central Michigan University. She became General Counsel in 1983. Since joining the membership in 1980, she has served on the NACUA Board of Directors (1993-1996), and as a member and chair of the Editorial Board of The Journal of College and University Law (1986-1995), Committee on Publications (1991-2002), and Committee on Student Legal Writing Competition (1986-1991). She also was a member of the Committees on Nominations and Elections (2003) and the Program for the Annual Conference (2000). She has been chair of the Legal Officers Committee of the Presidents Council of State Universities of Michigan.
She obtained a bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts, a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. and J.D. from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Eileen was also active with the Directorate on Campus Judicial Affairs and Legal Issues of the American College Personnel Association. She is currently a member of the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions.
In the Mt. Pleasant community, Eileen served on the Board of Directors of Central Michigan Community Hospital, Meridian Home Health Care, and United Way of Isabella County. She was the first president of Hospice of Central Michigan. She is a member of the Zonta and Rotary Clubs of Mt. Pleasant. She has served in many leadership roles at the club and district level of Rotary and will become the District Governor in 2010-2011. She will be retiring from Central Michigan University on June 30, 2009.
