Jacquie (“Jacquie”) Nichole Rich Fredericks, J.D., Ed.D., joined NACUA in 2023. As the Senior Legal Resources Attorney for Publications, Jacquie manages NACUA’s robust publications portfolio including New Cases and Developments, Resource Roundups, NACUANOTES, and the Journal of College and University Law. She serves as the staff liaison for the NACUANOTES Editorial Board, develops and presents briefings and continuing legal education webinars on significant and timely changes in the postsecondary policy and legal landscape, and supervises NACUA’s Legal Resources Research Attorney. Jacquie is also primarily responsible for managing the development and implementation of the bi-annual NACUA General Counsel Institute. She is deeply passionate about NACUA’s core values of diversity and inclusivity.
Prior to joining NACUA, Jacquie served as the Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the University of Northern Colorado. She previously managed the State of Colorado Department of Law’s Higher Education Unit and over the course of her career has provided advice and counsel to every public postsecondary institution in Colorado. Jacquie is also a skilled civil trial and appellate litigator with more than a decade of experience in administrative, state, and federal courts.
Jacquie holds a B.A., cum laude, in Elementary Education with a German Language Minor from Ball State University, a J.D. from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, and an Ed.D. from the University of Denver. She is admitted to the bar in the State of Colorado, where she enjoys hiking 14,000 ft. mountain peaks and spending time with her family.
