Dear Colleagues,
It has only been a few short weeks since we left Columbus and closed the chapter on the 2024 NACUA Annual Conference, but as summer winds down and preparations to return to campus begin, the NACUA team is already looking ahead to the next year of programming
and legal resources for members.
This year’s conference was a huge success, and with 100 sessions offered, it was the largest program in NACUA history. Being able to meet and spend time with so many of our members was the highlight of this year for me. There is no other time or
event where so many of the NACUA community are together in one place and this year 1,600 members—nearly a third of all members—were in attendance in Columbus.
If you couldn’t make it to Columbus, recordings of both the Opening Plenary, "Supreme Court Update with Dean Erwin Chemerinsky" and the Live Briefing
" OCR Regulatory Updates" with Catherine E. Lhamon, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Education are now available
for on-demand viewing.
Thank you to all of the attendees, sponsors, and staff who helped to make this year’s conference possible.
There’s no rest at NACUA and now with the annual conference behind us and the election season in full swing, we anticipate that there will be an urgent need for resources regarding the final Title IX regulations, campus free speech, athletics, and
much more. We are preparing to be agile and responsive as areas of need emerge and we are planning to meet members’ needs with pop-up discussion groups, briefings, and other legal resources.
As part of our continuous efforts to best support members, NACUA has embarked on program and technology assessments. Members will have already received invitations to participate in one of two surveys--either our technology survey (conducted in partnership
with Ellipsis) or the program assessment survey (conducted in partnership with McKinley Advisors).
I urge you to participate in the survey you received to make your opinions known so that we can best align our resources with member needs. The technology assessment survey from Ellipsis will close this Friday, August 16. The program assessment survey
from McKinley will close on Monday, August 19.
Also, please keep an eye out for a NACUA Save the Date email, which will list all of our workshops and major programming for the year ahead.
Warm Regards,
Ona
