Before joining the college, Dana was a partner in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania law firm of McNees Wallace & Nurick where she founded and chaired the firm’s Education Practice Group, and served as outside counsel for several colleges in Central Pennsylvania, including Dickinson. Dana is Dickinson’s first in-house counsel and began her in-house service as joint General Counsel to both Dickinson and Gettysburg Colleges. Dana is a graduate of Purdue University and the Indiana University School of Law. Dana was a full-time employee of the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office in her hometown of Indianapolis while attending law school.

Dana has been a member of NACUA since 1995, and has been active as a volunteer and in the leadership of the Association from the beginning. She has been a member and chair of many NACUA committees and working groups. She has also served two terms on the Board of Directors, and was Chair of the NACUA Board from 2012 - 2013. Dana is a past presenter at many NACUA conferences and workshops, and has served as a presenter and author for a variety of other higher education associations, including the Annapolis Group, the Association of Governing Boards and NASPA.

She was selected by the Department of Education to serve as a negotiator in the federal rulemaking process on the implementation of regulations following the amendments to the Violence Against Women Act. As noted above, in addition to the many leadership roles Dana has filled on NACUA’s Committees and on its Board, including as its President, Dana also has played an important role external to NACUA. Dana has presented at numerous other associations, especially when she served as part of the leadership in NACUA. Dana is truly a colleague who has given extraordinary service to NACUA over an extended period of time and is well deserving of the NACUA Distinguished Service Award.

NACUA is pleased to recognize Dana Scaduto as a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding and exemplary service to the Association.
