Wayne M. Richardson - 2012
Wayne M. Richardson, a native of Philadelphia, is a graduate of Cheyney State College and the Temple University Beasley School of Law. He began his career in higher education in 1976 as a staff attorney with the Pennsylvania Department of Education. In 1983, Wayne was appointed the first chief legal counsel of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. Wayne also served as trustee and treasurer of the System’s Faculty Health and Welfare Trust Fund. From 1996 to 2002, Wayne was the employment and labor counsel at Rutgers University. He served as the general counsel and secretary of the corporation at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 2002 to 2011, and was also a member and secretary of the board of directors of the Fairleigh Dickinson University of British Columbia Foundation. Wayne is currently a consulting attorney for Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Wayne joined NACUA 1977. He served on the NACUA Board of Directors in 1999-2001. He also volunteered on several NACUA committees including: Committee on Membership and Member Services, Committee on Legal Education, Committee on Finance and Audit, Committee on Program for the Annual Conference, Committee on Nominations and Elections, Committee on Web Page Legal Resources, Site Selection Committee, the CEO Search Committee, and as co-chair of the Committee on Board Operations. He has attended over 30 NACUA educational programs and has served as a presenter and moderator at several annual conferences.
His NACUA colleagues describe Wayne as a quiet but forceful leader; one who listens carefully and then, by adding his own wisdom, values, and insights, one who continually helped NACUA take steps to achieve some of its most challenging goals.
NACUA is pleased to recognize Wayne Richardson as a recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding and exemplary service to the Association, most especially for his service to the Board of Directors.
