Bishop C. Holifield - 2003
Bishop Holifield retired as the General Counsel for Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), effective August 31, 2002, after serving the University in that capacity since March 1976. Prior to coming to FAMU, he served as Assistant General Counsel, State of Florida, Department of Administration and as an Adjunct Professor of Business Law at FAMU. Mr. Holifield received a B.A. in Political Science from Florida A & M University summa cum laude and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Over the past 20 years, he has generously volunteered his time and expertise to NACUA in a variety of ways. He served on the NACUA Board of Directors from 1987-1990 and on myriad NACUA committees, including Membership, Continuing Legal Education, Member Services, Nominations and Elections, Program for the Annual Conference, Board Operations, Publications, and the Ad-Hoc Committee on Services to Small Colleges. In 1991-1992, he was Vice Chair of the Committee on Articles and Bylaws. He also has attended nearly every annual conference since 1980, occasionally serving as either a speaker or a discussion leader.
NACUA is pleased to recognize the more than 25 years of service that Bishop Holifield gave to both Florida A & M University and to NACUA by bestowing on him Life Membership in the Association. This award is given with the warmth, respect, and personal and professional admiration of his many NACUA friends and colleagues.
