Equal Opportunity & Regulatory Compliance is focused on ensuring compliance and access to the University's many programs and offerings. EORC reports jointly to the Provost's office and to the Division of Access, Opportunity and Community Engagement and partners with units across campus to ensure compliance with Title VI, VII, and IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Clery Act, and multiple state and federal laws and regulations related to equal opportunity compliance. The Assistant Director/Title IX Coordinator is a key leader on this team and has opportunities to contribute significantly to the University's access mission.

Role Summary

Manages polices in one or multiple compliance areas, develops and delivers training programs, and creates, distributes and maintains compliance documentation to ensure compliance with institutional policies and/or laws and regulations.

The Assistant Director/Title IX Coordinator manages compliance with Title IX and would have a key role in ensuring compliant processes related to how EORC manages complaints and resolution processes. The Assistant Director/Title IX Coordinator will also conduct investigations as needed and will supervise any ongoing investigations under the University's Title IX or Interpersonal Violence and Sexual Misconduct policies. The role would include ensuring relevant training is delivered to campus partners and students, managing investigations and resolution processes, and ensuring students receive relevant accommodations and supportive measures.

Examples of Work Performed

• Implement and ensure compliance with University policies, procedures, and programs related to Title IX.
• Supervises Title IX and Interpersonal Violence and Sexual Misconduct complaint investigations, reviews draft investigative reports, and supervises Title IX and other sexual misconduct hearings.
• Monitors compliance of all requirements and timelines specified in the Title IX and Interpersonal Violence and Sexual Misconduct grievance procedure.
• Assists the AVC/Executive Director with matters concerning Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and other equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and policies.
• Serves as the designated individual for reports/complaints of sexual harassment or discrimination (including sexual assault, stalking, and intimate partner violence).
• Acts as a neutral party through all aspects of an investigation and promotes a fair and neutral process for all parties involved.
• Receives and reviews reports related to allegations that may constitute sexual harassment, sex-based discrimination, and sex-based harassment and safeguards confidentiality.
• Notifies all pertinent parties of findings and “next steps” including right of appeal or right to pursue remedies outside of the university processes. - Monitors the implementation of sanctions.
• Interviews complainants, respondents, and other witnesses who may have relevant information pertaining to discrimination complaints.
• Prepares written investigation reports and/or memos for the disposition of complaints as it relates to concerns arising under Title IX, Title VI, Title VII or the ADA.
• Serves as a liaison to University stakeholders in situations, primarily where there have been sexual harassment, sex-based discrimination, and sex-based harassment complaints.
• Works collaboratively with various campus offices including, but not limited to, Campus Safety, General Counsel, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Facilities, Athletics, and Human Resources.
• Updates the AVC/Executive Director on the status of investigations in progress under the Title IX and Interpersonal Violence and Sexual Misconduct policies.
• Oversees the Title IX and Interpersonal Violence and Sexual Misconduct policies and ensures the content is updated to reflect current regulatory requirements.
• Develops, oversees, and coordinates the delivery of campus-wide education, training, and outreach programming for students, faculty, and staff related to Title IX Interpersonal Violence and Sexual Misconduct policies. Maintains documentation of all training and educational programs related to compliance with Title IX.
• Attends and participates in trainings related to sexual harassment, sex-based harassment, and sex-based discrimination and Title IX in order to stay abreast of new developments.
• Oversees, trains, leads, and collaborates with assigned staff and others conducting Title IX or related investigations.
• Makes recommendations to the Executive Director regarding merit increases and/or budget adjustments.
• Oversees accommodations for pregnant and parenting students.
• Coordinate with campus partners and stakeholders to ensure reporting parties and responding parties receive needed support services and resources as appropriate
• Serve as a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), including attending weekly meetings as needed.
• Develops content for a university Title IX webpage.
• Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.  

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Develops and implements new and revised operational policies and procedures relating to specific compliance laws or regulations.
2. Creates and delivers educational materials and trainings to target populations and entities.
3. Supervises the day-to-day operations of unit staff.
4. Creates, disseminates, and maintains required reports and communications in accordance with established laws and regulations.
5. Serves as the subject matter expert and a main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree 

Experience: (3) Three Years Experience Including Supervisory Experience 

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
 

Preferred Qualifications

At least one (1) year of experience working with Title IX or management of other sex-based discrimination complaints and processes.

Advanced degree (J.D., Master’s in relevant area, etc.)

Priority consideration will be given to candidates who include a cover letter articulating their particular interest in this role.
