The University of Nebraska invites applications for the position of Corporation Secretary of the Board of Regents within the Office of the President at the University of Nebraska.

Position: 

This is a full-time position responsible for supporting the Board of Regents, the governing body of the University of Nebraska system. 

Duties and responsibilities of the Corporation Secretary involve facilitating and supporting meetings of the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska in accordance with applicable laws; recording, maintaining, and distributing minutes of public meetings of the Board and certain other permanent Board records; maintaining the Bylaws, Policies and Standing Rules of the Board of Regents; supporting the needs of the members of the Board; managing communications with the Board and its members; providing support and advice to University campuses and administration with respect to Board processes, as well as other duties as assigned.


This position offices in Lincoln, Nebraska and will have occasional travel to other University of Nebraska campuses.  The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background check.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and credentials, plus benefits.

Required Qualifications

B.A. / B.S. degree and five years of progressively responsible professional work experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.  Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for work experience, on a year for year basis.  Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

J.D. degree from an accredited law school or other advanced degree. Prior experience at another institution of higher education, public employer, or non-profit entity.   

Ideal candidates will demonstrate:  highest levels of discretion, diplomacy, flexibility, collegiality, and care in dealing with complex and sensitive governance matters and engaging effectively with Regents and senior University administration; a high level of attention to detail; excellent independent judgment and decision-making skills; strong interpersonal skills; an aptitude for strategic thinking; an ability to anticipate problems; a track record of timely completion of projects and assignments; effective organizational skills; and the ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
