The University of Kansas Health System (“TUKHS” or “the System”) has engaged Major, Lindsey & Africa on an exclusive basis to conduct a search for a Deputy General Counsel (“DGC” or “the Deputy”).

Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, the Deputy General Counsel advises TUKHS and its subsidiaries on legal matters affecting the Systems’ hospitals, ambulatory campuses and programs, residency programs, physician practices, and other clinical and non-clinical operations. Specifically, the DGC provides guidance, direction, and assistance in connection with a myriad of agreements and a broad range of health care, fraud and abuse, regulatory, M&A, and litigation matters.

Experience:

The successful candidate will have at least ten (10) years of broad-based experience in healthcare law gained at a major law firm and/or in an in-house counsel role at a hospital, health system, or healthcare organization. This individual will bring strong transactional experience including mergers, acquisitions, health care fraud and abuse, nonprofit, and physician contracting. Experience working in the academic medical center space is preferred. Strong litigation experience is a plus. Team leadership and management experience is an advantage.
