RESPONSIBILITIES: As the chief legal officer, the General Counsel works to promote and defend the University in all legal proceedings; provides legal services to the institution to ensure maximum protection of its legal rights and to maintain its operations within the limits prescribed by law. Assists officers of the institution and other upper management in carrying out the mission of the University.
REQUIREMENTS: A juris doctorate degree, eligibility to practice law within the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and prior experience with either employment, administrative, or higher education law.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Additional years of professional experience in a higher education setting. Knowledge of educational law, personnel law, or Title IX, Litigation and/or administrative law experience.
