Overview:
The General Counsel serves as a key legal, governance, and policy advisor and trusted strategic partner to the President, the Board, and senior Dartmouth leaders. The General Counsel reports directly to the President and serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, with overall responsibility for the vision, leadership, and execution of Dartmouth’s legal strategy. This role is also responsible for leading and managing Dartmouth’s Office of General Counsel including Dartmouth’s Office of Visa and Immigration Services.

Experience:
The successful candidate will have at least 15 years of legal experience, with a deep understanding of the complex legal issues facing a decentralized higher education institution. Candidates will have extensive experience serving in leadership roles and interacting with senior executives and governing boards with varied interests and areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and strategic leader, with the proven ability to lead a large and diverse team while serving as an institutional partner.

Location/Relocation:
Hanover, NH. This is an in-office role and remote candidates will not be considered.
