Dear Colleagues,
We want to let colleagues impacted by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton know that we’re holding you in our thoughts and hoping that you and your campus communities are safe and recovering. NACUA has been, and remains, an association by and for
its members and you are always our priority. Most of our staff are located in the Washington, D.C. area and even at this distance, watching Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton was terrible and frightening. To our members who have been impacted,
if there is anything that NACUA can do to support you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at membership@nacua.org.
At NACUA, we have been casting a keen eye on current events as we prepare for the new fiscal year’s programming and events. We recently surveyed members about a variety of member-facing products and services, as well as about our technology. In
the coming months, you will be seeing changes and improvements based on the feedback you gave us. In the meantime, we want to thank all those who participated in the surveys.
We’re thrilled to announce that the Title IX Coordinator Training online course has been comprehensively overhauled to reflect both the 2020 and 2024 regulations. The online course on Conducting Effective Internal Investigations has also been refreshed
and the fall term of all NACUA’s online courses is open for enrollment, with the first live forums to start soon. The courses provide in-depth coverage of important issues in the practice of higher education law, and you can browse the full
list of courses here.
For members specializing in sponsored research and technology transfer, the Fall 2024 CLE Workshop is an excellent in-person educational option. Taking place November 13 – 15, this year’s sessions topics include research misconduct, intellectual
property and patent litigation, research collaborations, various aspects of A.I., and a Washington Update with higher education government affairs experts. There is still time to register and join us. The housing reservation deadline ends Thursday, October 24, and you must be registered to reserve a space in the NACUA room block and receive our special rate.
This year, the Fall CLE Workshop convenes just a week after Election Day. This election season has been particularly tumultuous, with many challenges for our member institutions to work through. Though no one can predict what will happen on November 5,
or the months following, NACUA stands ready to offer timely and relevant resources to our members.
Warm regards,
Ona
