Struck Down: Department of Labor’s Final Rule on Overtime Exemptions

On November 15, 2024, a federal judge in Texas struck down the Department of Labor’s recently enacted rule increasing overtime pay for approximately four million exempt employees, including many employees at colleges and universities. This ruling comes only a few weeks before the rule’s second wage increase was set to take effect on January 1, 2025.

Please join us for a 30-minute NACUA audio-only briefing during which George Ingham will provide an overview of the ruling, how it applies in the higher education context, and how institutions should respond now that the rule is no longer in effect.
